Lab Class Outline
Each lab class will begin with a quick review and discussion of the previous week's lab
activity. Lab quizzes will be given after the review, if these are scheduled. An introduction
to the next topic will be given as well as instructions for the lab activity. The remaining
time the student will work by themselves, in pairs or in small groups, depending on the
lab. Each student will use a lab/workbook that will be provided by the instructor. They
are expected to follow the instructions and answer questions in the lab activity. They will
have a full week to finish any lab questions, they did not answer in class. Towards the
end of the class period, all students are expected to clean up equipment and put things
away, and make sure their table area is clean.
Science Supplies and Equipment
Students (in groups of 2-4) will each have their own science supply kit, which will have
most of their supplies to include: beakers, test tubes, stands, burners, office supplies, etc.
These "kits" will be supplied and stored by the instructor but each group will be
responsible to maintain the supplies and equipment in these "kits." This includes washing
any lab equipment used in the lab activity for the day. Any special equipment or chemicals
used for the lab should be brought up to the front table at the end of the lab period.

Parent(s) or educators, are ultimately responsible to giving their student the
overall science grade, which includes the work that is done at home, as well as the lab
work. Parents are always welcome to attend the labs and even are encouraged to do so, at
least periodically. The lab grade book is always available for parents to review for their
student's work.
The above does not apply to the Fun Science Class, except for perhaps attendance and participation.
